No East Bay Race Saturday

Somehow I missed that Saturday's East Bay race was cancelled, sorry for the late notice. So that leaves my clinic as the only game in town. See you there.

Weekend Races/Clinic at Candlestick

The Bay Area Super Prestige Series kicks off this Sunday at Candlestick - Tom Simpson issued a Press Release I posted on our new PR/Other News Blog here. Also, I will be running the Sycip/Big Swingin' cyclocross clinic on Saturday at the Stick - newbies and experienced crossers are encouraged to attend - we'll cover whatever the group needs to be covered, from basic technique to advanced training methods, as well as previewing the course for Sunday's race. Ugh, just looking at the flyer makes me yearn for the good old days when I could race bikes...

FIAC CX National Championships

If you want to be a National Cyclocross Champion, you don't have to wait 'til December nor travel across the country, because David Gill has snagged the vacant November 6th date and scheduled the FIAC National Cyclocross Championships at everyone's favorite venue, the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds in Watsonville. What is FIAC, you ask? The Federation of Independent Associations for Cycling. This is a non-USACycling, non-NCNCA event. [details]

9/15/2005 - Season Underway (well, yours at least)

Ugh, my own personal cyclocross season just ended, but that's another story. In a related story I'm probably going to need some help keeping this site fresh this Fall, as my investment in the CX scene this year just lost a little value.
Anyhow, Sacramento #1 went down yesterday at Folsom Rodeo Grounds - I don't have any results to speak of, but we do have pictures!

9/14/2005 - GP of Reno CANCELLED

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but we just lost a great race. Message from the promoter:
"It is with regret that I must inform you that the GP of Reno UCI Cyclocross race on November 6th, 2005 has been cancelled. Two of our major sponsors pulled out at the last minute due to corporate cutbacks. To pull together new sponsors and new agreements this close to race date is just not possible. We look to be back next year with a weekend of UCI racing and new, dependable sponsors. Thanks to all that have given us great feedback on our course and venue. We hope to see you next year."
- Dave Eastwood, Bicycle Warehouse, Reno, NV.
Anyhow, we look forward to this race coming back next season. The good news is that there are promoters salivating over an open Sunday in the middle of the season, and I'm confident this vacancy will be filled very quickly.

9/13/2005 - Schedule Changes and More Races

Ok, we are getting into the final revisions of the calendar. Central Coast (CCCX) and East Bay series have been collaborating to fill out the rest of the schedule. Keith Defiebre has announced a CCCX race on Oct. 9 at Fort Ord, and Bob Liebold has moved his Oct. 9 race to fill the vacancy on Nov. 5. Bob has also announced two dates for his Southern Mines CX Series. If that's not enough, coach Matt McNamara is putting on a Tuesday night South Bay Training Series in Los Altos starting next week. 9/9/2005 - Sacramento Districts...seriously

Ok, the NCNCA District Cyclocross Championships have finally been resolved, with Sacramento promoters John and Linda Elgart doing some last-minute jostling of their venues and dates in order to avoid conflicting with any other races, and now the date and venue are set for Saturday, November 12 at Granite Beach. Here's a huge thanks to the Sacramento folks for going out of their way to help the schedule out. [details]

9/8/2005 - BA Super Prestige Update TAKE II

Sorry, I previously had a posting here regarding the Bay Area Super Prestige Series that mentioned that the Nov. 5 race was GP Clark Natwick - I had seen an unfinished version of the website last night and it was not correct. As it turns out, the Nov. 5 Pilarcitos race is CANCELLED and the GP Clark Natwick is the USGP race on Nov. 20. Bummer. Anyhow, Tom Simpson informed us that the Pilarcitos website has been updated with the schedule of their FIVE events for the 2005 Season. The Bay Area Super Prestige Series will consist of four races at Candlestick and Coyote Point, and the USGP/GP Clark Natwick (not part of the series) will be in Golden Gate Park. Sorry for the confusion... [details]

9/7/2005 - Calendar/Clinic Update, Pencil in Districts...

A few clinics have been added to the calendar for RockLobster and Velo Bella, as well as a few changes to the calender. Online registration is up for all the Velo Bella races and clinics. The Districts announcement last week may have been premature, there are a still a couple of issues to be ironed out...more probably by the beginning of next week
