BASP #3 Saturday Night Race - Sierra Point & Photos Of The Week From Paul Doran - Running Images

This coming Saturday night is the B.A.S.P. #3 event at Sierra Point. The B.A.S.P. night race was a huge success in it's first run last season. I have no doubt that the action will be better then ever for the 2009 version. Please remember to check out the schedule for Saturday's Round 3 of the Bay Area Super Prestige Cyclocross Series, presented by Cannondale. If you show up for your normal start you'll have plenty of time for your warm up because the racing action does not start until 2:15 pm. All divisions will have a modified schedule of start times, so please look here for the current information on times and directions- http://www.pilarcitos.com/pdfs/2009raceflyerSierraPoint.pdf. And for a course layout and parking info please see this page.- http://pilarcitos.com/pdfs/SierraPointMap.pdf. When looking at the previous document you will notice specific parking locations for athletes and spectators and spaces reserved only for Sierra Point Marina users. The BASP staff will be directing racers and spectators into appropriate spaces and your cooperation is appreciated. Team tent spaces are available along the home stretch with lights on course. For Sunday there are Cyclocross races in Fresno- http://homegrowncross.com/09/, and Folsom- http://bicycleplanet.net/. At the past weekend's CCCX Cyclocross race Paul Doran captured some epic photos of racers working the brutal run-up section. Running with the Cyclocross bike up a challenging hill really brings out the athleticism of the competitors. When Cross racers shoulder the bike and run uphills there is a certain style demonstrated when done right. Running with the bike uphill is as special a talent as bunny hopping a board. Paul Doran captured some great shots from the steeper sections of the CCCX run up, here are some of my favorites...
