Calendar and Cup Update

Sounds like the CCCX folks put on a humdinger of a race in Prunedale for the 4th event in the 2007 NCNCA Cup presented by Sycip. Aaron O'Dell proved that he's back in a big way with a win in the Men's A race, and Rachel Lloyd showed her huge skills in winning the Women's A race. See the Velonews report here.

In other calendar news, David Gill has released more info on the Peak Season series including news of this weekend's opener at a brand new venue, Pinto Lake County Park, in Watsonville. Shane Huntoon posted an update for the categories and times for the District Championships on December 8th. Also, the Sacramento folks have notified me (a while back, sorry) that their Finals are on Saturday, January 5th (to clear up the last remaining conflict - thanks) and that they'll be having a party and raffle later on at a local community center following the event.

bring on the mud, crud, suds and good times with my buds, i love racing, pacing, and getting grime on my face and, i hope it rains more, yes down pour, then my legs and lungs will get more sore, from the fight when i take flight and go out of sight

costume cross...

my mountain bike team hosted a cyclocross race
but we wanted a race
we did not mind the fun of costumes as the race was on October 28th
but we did not want to risk chasing off serious cyclocross competition

the event went along swimmingly

we threw what we hope will become an annual event in the district

but...
the fun of costume cross does sound like a wonderful side bar
maybe we could host a small informal costume cross the day prior

the uptight folks in dc could use to take the stick out of their ass one day a year

DCMTB hosted DCCX: Cyclocross in the District

a fantastic cyclocross event on a spectacular course

Maybe it's just me, but doesn't it seem like there should be more starts at the Districts race? All Women racing at the same time during a district championship race with the C's starting two laps in just doesn't sound like a good recipe at Districts. Also, the Men B race could have approaching 150 racers on the course (look at the numbers Pilarcitos has been getting!). I might try a little more revision to the schedule, but then again I'm not putting on the race so all I can really say is thanks....

Cheers

The series that is hosting the Districts is in its first year of races. They have only put on a few cross races ever. The B field will not be that big, but if they run 35+B and 45+B group it could be many riders, but not 150.

I am worried too about the Women's Race, as I will be doing my 3rd B Women's race ever after moving up from the C(beg.) Division. I do not want people in my way or following me doing there warm ups. There are so many rude guys just following me when I am racing and it really throws off my focus. Are the watching my ass, as I pedal? Guys need to warm up off the course, and I do not want to be racing and have to see men on the course.

thank you.

In regards to the previous post- I have had the same return behavior, females warming up on the course while I am racing, it pissed me off, but...I don't mind if they like to look at my ass!

i think that if the championship womens' events (As, Masters 35+/45+/55+) at least get started separately (20-30 seconds) from the other groups, it should work

my recollection from past years is that there is plenty of opportunity for passing at this venue--not too much tight singletrack--unless it has changed quite a bit this year

and let's all remember people, that we have to look at the other categories' asses from a distance--no tailgating while warming up! no getting in the way regardless of how hot your ass is.
