Surf City & Cross In The Capitol Racing Action- Photos Of The Week

Kerry Barnholt(Scott/Ritchey) & Andy Jacques-Maynes(Bissell) ripped off outstanding Elite wins at Surf City #1, while Jeremy Ferguson(Cal Giant Inc./Specialized) & Joan Gregg(Squadra Abruzzo) did the same in Sacramento. Nor-Cal Cyclocross racing continues to grow and the level of competition is at a all time high. A huge "thank you" goes out to all the people who put on the events to facilitate the growth of the sport. Behind the scenes are the promoters who work long hours to prepare & produce events week after week. Constant racing opportunities allow Northern California Cyclocross athletes a means to develop skills and gain knowledge from on course racing experiences. It is now 8 weeks until the National Championships in Bend, Oregon. The non stop race action in Nor-Cal always seems to propel multiple riders into form for Nationals. Straight to the point- Cross in Nor-Cal is top notch, serious, and produces some of the best racers in America. However, week after week, one of the major themes to the racing is riders should have fun and enjoy the competition. Cross is challenging and builds cycling fitness & skills fast, but most of all the Cross scene in Nor-Cal is meant to be fun....

I liked the mix of BMX and Cross. It was fun to mix it up and use the track that was available. That head wind was crazy strong on the back stretch of those dirt roads. Good job to Joan Gregg for sneaking by Jen Jordan right at the end of the Womens A race.

I am trying to get the NCNCA Cup, or something very similar lined up for 2010. Personally I would like to see it back in action for next season.

Great article, fun to see the cross on a BMX course. I have to second the comment of J.S., a little photo credit would be cool.
