NCNCA Cup Winners Crowned at Peak Season Race #2

It was a simply glorious day at the Watsonville Fairgrounds on Sunday, and most of Northern California's best racers were on-hand to contest the final event in the NCNCA Cup Series presented by Santa Cruz Bicycles.

Andy Jacques-Maynes (Specialized/Cal-Giant) returned from back East to school the Elite Men, along with brother Ben Jacques-Maynes (Bissell) pushing a huge gear on his Single-Speed cross bike - though nobody could take the NCNCA Cup crown from Scott Chapin - who rode a solid race to ensure his overall victory. The Women's Elite race saw Karen Brems (Webcor) take her first victory in the series which vaulted her onto the overall NCNCA Cup podium, though Stell Carey hung tough just behind to ensure her own series victory. Bjorn Fox stomped out another emphatic victory in the Junior Men, as did Madeline Myall in the Junior Women - both Junior winners went on to win their respective series handily. Todd Hoefer was unstoppable in the Masters 35+ race, but nobody could wrest the NCNCA Cup overall lead from the stranglehold Alan Coates had on it.

See the Peak Season site for results on all the day's racing.
